Live Chat and Notifications
We have released a major update to the site today focusing on how you communicate with other users. We replaced the old inbox system with a real-time chat and improved how notifications work.
Here is what we added and changed:
Live Chat System: The inbox is now a live chat. You do not need to refresh the page to see new messages; they appear instantly. The design has been updated to look more like modern chat apps, featuring a scrolling history that keeps your place.
Live Notifications and Badges: We split notifications into two categories. You will now see a Red badge for general notifications (likes, replies, comments) and a Blue badge for private messages. These update automatically in the header without needing to reload the page. If you have the chat window open, you will hear a sound when a new message arrives.
Inbox Improvements: The inbox now groups conversations by date (Today, Yesterday, etc.). When composing a new message, you will see a "Quick Select" list of people you follow and who follow you, making it faster to start a chat.
New Interaction Alerts: You will now receive a notification when someone replies to a thread you created. You will also get a notification when someone leaves a comment on your profile.
Profile Updates: We added a direct "Message" button to user profiles. We also cleaned up the interface to prevent text from overlapping or stretching on mobile devices.
