Anime

Anime, as a Japanese art form and cultural medium, has roots spanning over a century. While early experiments date back as early as 1907, the first verified Japanese animated short film, Namakura Gatana (The Dull Sword), was created in 1917 by Jun'ichi Kōuchi.
The anime style and industry we know today were established in the 1960s by Osamu Tezuka, often called the "God of Manga". His groundbreaking series Astro Boy, which premiered on television in 1963, set the visual foundation for the industry.
